Alumni Association

Connecting you to McGill

The McGill Alumni Association (MAA) fosters long-term relationships with McGill's alumni through its various programs. Its mission is to enable alumni, students, faculty and staff, and friends of McGill University to maintain their contact with the University and each other for their shared benefit and for the vital support and development of McGill.

150 years and counting

The Association is run by a core of professional staff in Montreal and hundreds of dedicated volunteers. Founded in 1857 and officially incorporated in 1880 as the Graduates' Society of McGill University, it changed its name to the McGill Alumni Association in 1995. The MAA elects five of its members to McGill's Board of Governors. These representatives participate as members of several University committees. Our organization also recognizes the volunteer efforts of its worldwide alumni, faculty, staff, and students at its annual Honours & Awards Dinner. Learn more >>

Welcoming you back

The McGill Alumni Association stages the annual Homecoming celebration, which draws thousands of alumni back to Montreal every fall. For this signature event, we support the efforts of class representatives in arranging reunions every five years. The Association is also the proud organizer of the annual Leacock Luncheon, which is always a popular highlight of the Homecoming Weekend. Similar events are held in Calgary, Toronto and Vancouver.

Sharing your perspective

As of fall 2009, the Alumni Association offers alumni two web-based opportunities to catch up with classmates and with the University. The first is our official website, which you are on now, known as the Alumni Online Community or AOC. The second is a cutting-edge social media aggregate called Alumni Live 365. Visit the website >>

Every gift counts

The McGill Annual Fund solicits different constituencies each year, directing donations to the Alma Mater Fund, Parents Fund, Friend's Fund, McGill Associates,  Faculty and Staff Fund, and special Interest Groups Fund. The McGill Alma Mater Fund, the largest, was established in 1948 by the McGill Alumni Association (then the Graduates' Society) to canvass alumni annually, and thereby creating a "living endowment."
