There are many ways you can encourage colleagues to support Campaign McGill – from a single, one-time gift or convenient payroll deductions to establishing an endowment or planned gifts of a bequest, trust or annuity. Here are some helpful talking points about how giving by faculty and staff makes a difference at the University and beyond. We hope they will prove useful to Campus Community Committee volunteers as they spread the word about our initiative.

Annual Fund

• The Annual Fund is the keystone for private support to the University, with annual gifts totalling more than $9-million per year.
• Annual gifts provide immediate, flexible funds for McGill.
• Annual donors are a stable population of supporters.
• Annual gifts, properly stewarded, begin a cycle of donor cultivation that can lead to larger gifts over time.

Faculty and Staff Giving

• Total faculty and staff donors in the 2012 fiscal year: 1,039
• Total faculty and staff donations in the 2012 fiscal year: $1,131,848
• Former and current faculty and staff donations from 2004 until 2012 totaled over $17 million
• Participation rate for faculty and staff in the last University campaign (21st Century Fund Campaign) was 62 per cent
  

How much should faculty and staff give?

McGill faculty and staff members are encouraged to donate each pay period through our staff payroll deduction program. Through small, manageable instalments, you can help support the programs and people that you see every day.
