Engage and Network

As unique as your family

Every parent has a different perspective on how and to what degree they want to get involved in the McGill community. Whether you wish to volunteer at events in your region, share your experiences with other McGill parents in person or online, or interact on a Facebook group, the possibilities are plentiful. Keep reading for some of the ways you can increase your involvement.

Parents Program
The Parents Program provides a unique opportunity to connect with this important constituency. It exists to engage, solicit and steward current parents while their students are at McGill and to encourage financial support to the University.

The International Parents Council (IPC) - Outreach (Volunteer Opportunities)
Here are some of the activities to partake in as a volunteer on this committee:

  • Welcome calls to new McGill parents
  • Thank you calls to parents who have made gifts to the Parents Fund
  • Attend or host local Send-Off Events in your community
  • Volunteering at Alumni Services Events (Parents Tent, Exam Coffee Breaks, Intl Skating Party)
  • Host Parent Events in your home and encourage other parents to attend
  • Participate with Alumni Career Services (ACS) through recruitment of parents as mentors, hosts, webinar presenters and speakers at local networking events
  • Acting as guest blogger for the Parents Blog
  • Peer to Peer Fundraising

Active Regions
The following regions are those that have a large number of active and involved parents: Boston, Connecticut, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Paris, London, and Switzerland.

Communications for Parents
There’s also a wide range of social media resources that exist for McGill parents. Some of these communities you may be aware of and some you may be discovering for the first time. Either way, we have some great suggestions about how you can strengthen your ties to the University wherever you are in the world.
